 GATESHEAD SEA CADET UNIT NOTICE OF MEETING

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Annual General Meeting of GATESHEAD Sea Cadet Unit will be held onboard TS FLAMINGO, Pipewellgate, Gateshead, NE8 2BJ starting at 20:00 (8 pm) on Monday 7th November 2016 to transact the following business:

AGENDA

1. Apologies for Absence 2. Opening comments by Chairman 3. Minutes of last AGM for adoption 4. Matters arising from those Minutes 5. Unit Chairman’s Report 6. Commanding Officer’s Report 7. Treasurer’s Report and adoption of accounts 8. Election/Re-election of the Unit Management Team 9. Any other business

** Notes:

• Election of the UMT – Individuals who are seeking election to the UMT must have their nomination proposed and seconded

• Nominations can only be accepted if they are submitted on the official nomination form which can be obtained from the Unit Management Team Chairman, David Byrne, at 48 The Grove, Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE3 1NJ.

• Forms will be available from Monday 17th October 2016.

• There are criteria laid down in Sea Cadet Regulations (SCR) as to who is eligible to sit on the UMT. Please see SCR or contact Mr Byrne for details.

• Any waiving of these criteria is at the discretion of the Area Business Manager.

• Only fully completed forms will be accepted.

• Proof of posting is not proof of receipt.

** Any Other Business – Items of Any Other Business will only be considered if they are proposed and seconded in writing to Mr Byrne at least 24 hours before the meeting.

Fully completed nomination forms need to be received by Mr Byrne by post on Friday 28th October 2016. All newly-elected UMT members will be required to undergo a criminal record disclosure and to sign a Declaration indicating that they know of no reason why they cannot become a charity trustee (UMT member)

Gateshead "Burgee Winners 2014".

Despite a challenging year for Gateshead sea cadets including a flood and temporary relocation, during which extensive repairs to unit were necessary, they remained undaunted.
Many awards have been achieved during 2014 not least the prestigious "Burgee Award" given to the top 15% of units in the country for excellence and achievements. This was presented during the official reopening of TS Flamingo and presentation evening at our unit in Gateshead, the award was received by Commanding officer Lesley Somerville. 
Cadets contribution to the evening included a presentation of all the activities they are involved in such as boating, sailing and many other varied activities including a District trip to Malta during 2014.
Gateshead Unit were presented with a trophy for achieving the most points in Tyne South district. In addition, Lieutenant Grey's was presented with his 3rd long service bar in recognition of thirty years dedicated service to the Sea Cadets.
The evening was attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Gateshead and other dignitaries in recognition of all the outstanding achievements of Gateshead Sea Cadets over the last year.
