Our Commanding Officer Paul Townsend; Probationary Petty Officer (SCC) Luke Short; Able Cadets Martin Spensley, Saviour Onuarah and James Ambler together with Steve Borne and Di Norman from the Parents' and Supporters' Association attended the Memorial Service to honour the life of Rear Admiral Sir Morgan Morgan-Giles, D.S.O. O.B.E. G.M. D.L.
The memorial was held in the beautiful and historic Winchester Cathedral. The Address was given by Admiral Sir Jock Slater and was a great account of the long and action-packed life of Sir Morgan. Sir Morgan commanded Belfast, on the China Station, in the 1960's and was later instrumental in saving HMS Belfast from the scrapyard. Having saved Belfast, he was then adamant that he wanted some "uniforms" aboard- hence the move of City Unit from St Clement-Dane Church to HMS Belfast in the early 1970's.
Able Cadets Ambler and Spensley described the service as "honourable and informative".
