Four Cadets from Bury Unit joined Cadets and Staff from around the Area for its annual camp.  This year it was held on HMS Bristol which had just returned from her refit.  Cadets took part in activities such as Kayaking, Sailing, Powerboating and Rowing.  They also had the chance to turn their hand to field craft with Bravo company and take in the sights of Portsmouth with visits to some of its historic places. All the Cadets had fun as well as returning with some well deserved boatwork qualifications

Area Regatta

9th & 10th July 2011

Saturday - Boat Handling & Sailing

This year's competition was held at the Crosby Lakeside Activity Center (CLAC) which is the new Area boat Station. CLAC replaced Hollingworth lake (T.S. Palatine) as the Areas boating station earlier this year and this was the first opportunity that staff and cadets had a chance to see the excellent facilities that they have to offer.  Cadets and Staff from around the area were joined by the Captain of the Sea Cadets, Captain Mark Windsor RN for this annual event. Ordinary Cadet Staples-Jones was entered in the Area PY class sailing Competition and I am plased to say he won 3 out of his four races and came second in one.  This meant that he won PY class overall and will now be heading to the National Competition held at Southport in October BRAVO ZULU

 2nd July 2011

Four Cadets from Bury Unit took advantage of the North East Lanc's District boatwork day & regatta.  The event was held at Scotmans flash, Wigan on what was a hot summer’s day. The cadets had chance to try out rowing in one of the Sea Cadets new boat the Trinity, which is a replacement for the aging ASC's, which have been in service with the SCC for many years. This new boat will allow cadets to learn both Pulling & Rowing in a lighter and more modern boat. The Cadets also tried their hand at Sailing & Kayaking taught by instructors from District Units.

A fun day on the water was had by all who attended.
