Massive Thanks

Massive Thanks

Work is well underway at Birmingham Sherbourne Sea Cadets! 😁

We have been kindly donated all the paint and supplies along with caulk etc to revamp our 4 classrooms at the unit.

Rich and his team at Brewers Decorator Centres working in partnership with Oliver Peake at PPG architectural coatings UK Ltd. have been amazing.

Today 6th April 2024 we collected some of the free supplies for the unit, the rest will be collected Monday 8th April 2024.

Rich and Oliver and their teams are big supporters of the unit and the work which is done to help continue to improve young people’s lives.

Even the Cadets are invested and excited to have fresh new classrooms to aid their learning. Whilst some cadets helped move items and prep the room ready for painting and decorating below cadets and staff helping to remove large frames off the walls ready for the work to commence.

Research suggests that young people learn better in a clean, safe environment and they will aim to keep it clean themselves also when they feel proud of their hard work also.

Mr Paul Cashmore (Aka, Mr C) 06.06.1945- 23.03.2024 Aged: 78

It’s with a heavy heart Birmingham Sherbourne Sea Cadets, announce the Passing of a true gentleman and a man who always went the extra mile for cadets and the corp itself.

Paul Cashmore lost his short battle with Cancer and Died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on the morning of 23rd March 2024.

Mr C had a lifelong love, and passion for all things Naval themed, he served in the Merchant Navy and started his Sea Cadet volunteering 35 years ago, serving many units and the District as Chair.

He was especially passionate about Birmingham Sherbourne, and became not only the general handyman, the Chair for many years, also was a Civilian instructor and will be remembered by many cadets for his amazing Breakfast’s and Roast Dinners as he believed all cadets needed a hearty meal.

Mr C was also a recipient of the Lord Mayor’s award and a Lord Lieutenant award.

Words can not describe how everyone feels and supporting each other is paramount, Birmingham Sherbourne will be there to support anyone who is affected and wishes to share stories, memories, and pictures of Mr C.

We send our condolences to Irene (Mrs C), David, Nicola, Matt and their family, your sea cadet family is here for you all.

We will notify you all any funeral arrangements and any further information.
