February 2016 – Buckinghamshire Tri Service...

The competition was run at RAF Halton with Sea Cadets and Royal Marine Cadets from Aylesbury and Milton Keynes Units joining others from the Air and Army cadet forces for the first Buckinghamshire Tri Service competition.

The cadets were initially shown around the partially completed World War 1 trench that had been constructed inside a building and everyone was very interested in the construction.  The cadets then split down to their respective groups for swimming, marksmanship principles/rifle terminology, team building activity using marshmallows/spaghetti and first aid.  The team building event saw an number of the different teams eating the marshmallows before completing the task in hand and all the cadets that undertook the first aid activity enjoyed dealing with some very difficult first aid situations.

All the cadets that participated had a good time enjoying the different activities and all received a medal from Councillor Bill Chapple who is the Armed Forces Representative on the Council. Well done to the overall winners - the Air Cadets.

February 2016 – District Training weekend,...

Over the weekend of the 5th to 7th February a number of cadets from T.S Broadsword attended the latest District course based out of High Wycombe unit which covered Seamanship and PT.

SEAMANSHIP

Well done to Cdt King and MC2 Fitzgerald who both attended the first Seamanship course of 2016 at High Wycombe unit.

Over the weekend both cadets worked hard and learnt a lot of new rigging exercises and knots.  They put all this new knowledge into practice on Sunday working on a rigging exercise.

PHYSICAL TRAINING

Well done to all those who part in the Physical Training weekend - MC2 Crampton, MC2 Millward-Stone, Cdt 1st Class Lockley-Brown, MC2 Wilson (Assistant instructor PT Basic) and Cpl Nicklin (Instructor PT Intermediate). Thank you also to Sgt Nicklin who attended as Officer in Charge and course assessor.

This was the 2nd part of a 2 weekend course, with cadets overnighting at High Wycombe unit and travelling to RAF Halton during each day to take part in the various activities.

The course involved revision of the previous weekends instruction in RT Games and Daily Exercises, more fitness tests and instruction relating to Potted Sports.  The weekend culminated in assessments on Sunday morning where the cadets had a dress inspection before assessed on their delivery of both RT games and Daily exercises.

Great fun was had by all who took part, ‘Bravo Zulu’ all.
