Fundraising Update

Thanks to the generous support of two local organisations - the Rotary Club of Yeovil and M&J Bowers Recycling - the unit has recently raised £305.

The Rotary Club organised and funded a Christmas Draw, providing the tickets and prizes and then donating the monies raised by the sale of tickets plus an extra 10% to the unit, giving us a total of £175. This was very generous and the unit was privileged to be invited to participate.

M&J Bowers Recycling provided large plastic bags for the cadets to fill with unwanted linen. The firm then collected the bags and paid us 50p per kilo, which resulted in a cheque for £130.

The cadets and staff are very grateful to these local companies for their generous support.

Cadets finish for Christmas

The cadets ended this year's programme with a Carol Service at St Bartholomew's Church in Yeovilton on 13th December, followed by a Mess Dinner on Saturday.

As in previous years, the meal was kindly prepared by members of staff (led by Mrs Vokes) - a task which took much of the day.

Cadets has now finished for the year, but will resume on Tuesday 3rd January 2012. If you are interested in finding out about joining, why not contact us via the contact page?

Bag packing at Tesco - 20th and 21st December

If you are shopping at Tesco Extra Yeovil, on 20th or 21st December, look out for our cadets who will be very happy to assist you with your bag packing if you wish. Any donations made will be shared between our unit and SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association).

We'll be there Tuesday morning and Wednesday afternoon.

The cadets did this in October (in association with the RSPCA) and shoppers were very generous, donating over £800 to the unit which is going toward the purchase of a new rowing boat.

Thank you.
