LC Henry Appointed Lord Lieutenant's Cadet 2021/22

At an investiture ceremony held at the Cadet Training Centre in Nottingham on Monday 29 November, Worksop Sea Cadet, Leading Cadet Henry, was appointed as the Lord Lieutenant's Sea Cadet for Nottinghamshire for 2021/22 by the Lord Lieutenant of Nottinghmshire, Sir John Peace.

The 16 year old's achievement is part of a national programme where each year, the Lord Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire, along with other counties up and down the country, appoints several young people drawn from each of the Cadet Forces (Sea Cadet Corps, Army Cadet Force and Air Training Corps) to serve as a Lord Lieutenant's Cadet.

These cadets are selected and appointed based on their outreach and participation within their respspective organisation, which is seen as one of the highest achievements in the Cadet Forces. LC Henry's role as Lord Lieutenant's Cadet will see him act as an aide and representative of the Sea Cadets and provide an essential link between the armed forces and the local community. He will be given the opportunity to assist the Lord Lieutenant at civic and military occasions and, where possible, Royal visits.

New Lord Lieutenant's Cadet for Nottinghamshire...

Worksop Sea Cadet nominee, Cadet Corporal Josh Simcox, has offically been appointed as the Lord Lieutenant's Sea Cadet for Nottinghamshire 2016/2017.

Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant's are the local representatives of the Crown for each County in the United Kingdom. Cpl Simcox will accompany the Lord Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire, Sir John Peace, on his many engagements throughout the year of appointment, attending formal events and functions.

"This is such an honour for me to represent the Sea Cadet Corps in Nottinghamshire. Of all my achievements this has to be one of the greatest. I would like to thank everyone involved who made this happen and thank you for those who thought so highly of me for such an umportant role" - Cdt Cpl Josh Simcox

Corporal Simcox is the third member of TS BENTINCK Ships' Company to hold the prestigious appointment, taking over from Leading Cadet Ryan Arnold (2015/2016) and former Sea Cadet, Leading Cadet Jamie Fox (2008/2009).

Best Junior Sea Cadets in Eastern Area

At yesterdays' Area Conference, the Captain of the Sea Cadets, Cpt P.Russell RN presented our Commanding Officer, WO2(SCC) S.Gillert RNR and Unit Chairman/ USO Juniors, CI(SCC) J.Patterson with an award for the Best Junior Section at an Annual Inspection. This was part of the Area Annual Awards Presentations, where units are are recognised for their various achievements throughout the year.

"I would like to congratulate all of the Juniors for all their hard work that they put in to win this Trophy, I was extremely honoured to accept it on your behalf's. A special mention to OC C.Brooks who also did some valiant work in helping to achieve this accolade" - CI(SCC) J.Patterson, USO Juniors.

District Drill and Piping Competition, Colour...

District Drill and Piping Competition, Colour...

The Unit saw victory at this years' District Drill and Piping Competition on Saturday 21 November 2015. The Colour Party, which consisted of 5 cadets were the discipline winners and will go on to represent the District at the Area competition in January.

The cadets have been training exceptionally hard over the last few months in preparation for the competition. Their hard work, hours of practise and determination paid off last Saturday when they won the District Colour Party Competition. Uniforms were impeccable, and the Standard Party display was exceptional and of a very high standard.

The team, AC A.Bloomfield, Cdt1 K.Hanson, Cdt J.Hornagold and NE S.Blades, lead by LC R.Arnold, will now go on to the Area competition in January at Newark Showground representing Notts and Derby. Units from all Eastern Area will be competing in this competition to secure a place at the National Drill and Piping Competition at HMS RALEIGH.

In addition to coming home with a winning team trophy for their outstanding display, JCFC J.Hodges was awarded the Best Junior Squad Commander in the District, the Junior Squad came runners up in the competition.

Worksop Sea Cadet nominee, Leading Cadet Ryan Arnold, has offically been appointed as the SCC Lord Lieutenant's Cadet for Nottinghamshire for 2015/2016.

Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant's are the local representatives of the Crown for each County in the United Kingdom. LC Arnold will accompany the Lord Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire, Sir John Peace, on his many engagements throughout the year of appointment, attending formal events and functions.

It was the Units' First Lieutenant, Chief Petty Officer (SCC) Lyndsey Sanderson, who submitted the nomination, detailing LC Arnold's many achievements in and outside of the Sea Cadets.

Leading Cadet Arnold is the second member of TS BENTINCK Ships' Company to hold the prestigious appointment. Former Sea Cadet, Leading Cadet Jamie Fox carried the title for 2008/2009.
