VISIT TO COBEL HOUSE NURSING HOME

VISIT TO COBEL HOUSE NURSING HOME

On 7 April 2015, some of our older cadets visited Cobel House Nursing Home to talk to the residents about our visit to the National Arboretum Memorial. We also took the opportunity to spend some time chatting with them over tea. We really enjoyed our day and thank you to Cobel House for making it possible. We think we may have recruited two new cadets as pictured below!

NATIONAL ARBORETUM MEMORIAL VISIT

NATIONAL ARBORETUM MEMORIAL VISIT

On 29 March 2015, we joined over 60 other cadets from units across our district to visit the National Arboretum Memorial in Staffordshire. The Arboretum has over 50,000 trees over 150 acres and 300 memorials. However, it is not a cemetery, more of a place of life where older and younger generations can wander and wonder! We had a fantastic day out and were pleased to track down the Royal Navy and Sea Cadet commemorations. Our thanks go to the District Officer who made it all possible.

TYNEMOUTH VOLUNTEER LIFE BRIGADE VISIT

TYNEMOUTH VOLUNTEER LIFE BRIGADE VISIT

We were delighted to receive an invitation from the Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade on 27 March 2015 to learn about the organisation which has been helping to save lives in our region since 1864! We visited the museum and found many interesting objects both of great beauty and strange design, almost all with a tale to tell of tragedy and heroics alike. We learned about serious things but also had some fun too! There are more photos on our Facebook page, you can see them by clicking the Facebook link on our home page.

WHITLEY BAY SEA CADETS RECEIVE RECOGNITION FROM...

WHITLEY BAY SEA CADETS RECEIVE RECOGNITION FROM...

Thanks to the Community Foundation of Tyne and Wear and Northumberland, we had a fabulous evening at the High Sheriff of Tyne and Wear Youth Against Crime Awards Ceremony on 25 March 2015. We heard about all the other organisations from our region who support young people and also the volunteers who give up so much of their time. In recognition of "great and valuable services to the community" we were presented with a very generous donation from the High Sheriff which we were absolutely delighted to receive. We also had a chat with ex Sunderland AFC footballer Kevin Ball who gave an inspirational speech.  Thank you to everyone who made the evening so special and to our cadets who attended & represented our unit with finesse.

Pictured are our two Whitley Bay Sea Cadets alongside the High Sheriff of Tyne and Wear and Kevin Ball.

INSTRUCTOR PROMOTIONS AT WHITLEY BAY SEA CADETS

Huge congratulations to our two newest instructors who have recently passed their probationary period! Emilia is now an Acting Sergeant  and Silviu is an Acting Petty Officer. They've worked hard and given up a lot of their spare time to get there - all to help us give our cadets the best possible head start in life. Well done and thank you to you both.
