Avon District Drill Competition

The unit have been training for a few weeks making sure that the cadets were ready in their teams for the drill and piping competition. The cadets worked hard and showed great dedication and commitment to their teams training sometimes 4 times a week. The cadets not only worked on there routines they worked on their uniform and boots and overall worked as a team. On Sunday 12th February the cadets were all ready and travelled the short distance to a local school. The other units from the district were in attendance taking part in different parts of the competition. The unit had cadets taking part in the Guard, Unarmed, Colour and piping competition, the cadets done them self's proud and all the hard work paid off with the Guard coming 1st, Guard Commander L/C Best 1st, Unarmed 2nd, Colour party 1st, Piping Team 1st, so Overall winners and 3 teams off to Area.

South West Area 5 A Side Football

The senior girls and junior girls teams from the unit attended the South West Area 5 a side football competition. The girls played well and did them self's proud, junior girls came 6th and senior girls 8th. The girls were also supporting the senior and junior boys teams from the district. The junior boys team were missing a player so one of our boys from the unit jumped in to make sure the team could play allowing the junior boys team to compete coming 8th. The senior boys had lots of support from the other teams in the district and with there great effort came 1st which means there off to National's and Avon district came 6th overall.

Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award

Two members of staff and 7 cadets took up the challenge of their gold Duke of Edinburgh expedition, rowing from Abingdon Marina to Windsor Unit this took 4 days to complete and they rowed over 62 miles. The weather unfortunately was not good to them so most of the time the teams were extremely wet but they carried on achieving such an amazing task.  BZ to you all.

National Band Competition

The units band attended the National Band competition at the Tower of London, the unit was the 2nd band representing South West Area in the competition. The day was very hot and in full uniform doing their display was extremely tough on all the bands, the band gave 100% in their performance which showed by the result coming 2nd overall and L/C Hayman 2nd best drum major. The Commanding Officer was extremely please with the result after all the hard work from the cadets.

 

Units Annual Camp At SCTC Weymouth

The unit was off in August for their annual camp at SCTC Weymouth, 53 cadets from the unit were ready for there week of sailing, powerboating, windsurfing and evening classes of stewarding, catering, first aid and CIS. The weather was challenging on Wednesday but that didn't dampen the spirit of the camp, coming away with lots of qualifications a great week was had by all.
