We are delighted to announce that on On Weds 23 April at a full Tunbridge Wells Borough Council meeting, The Freedom of the Borough was gifted to TS Brilliant Tunbridge Wells Sea Cadets & Royal Marines Cadets. This honour is in recognition of the 90 years the unit has contributed to the youth of the Town and the thousands of people who have benefited from the Sea Cadets.
The Mayor Nancy Warne announced the award to the council and to senior members of the unit in attendance.
Accepting the award was Commodore Barry Bryant CVO RN the unit President followed by a thank you for this honour by Lt Cdr (SCC) Jon Vanns RNR who has been working on this for many years.
The award will be formally presented at a parade in Tunbridge Wells Town Centre on 12th October 2025, where Tunbridge Wells Cadets will be joined by Sea Cadets and Royal Marines Cadets from across West Kent.
Only a hand full of Cadet Units in the Country have this honour and it is the work and dedication of cadets, staff and trustees both past and present that have earned it. It is the responsibility of futures generations to live up to it.
