Pennant Presentation by Deputy Mayor of Tiverton

Tuesday the 5th of July saw a double celebration at TS Hermes.  Firstly, Cllr Colin Slade, the Deputy Mayor of Tiverton presented CPO Chubb at Evening Colours with our Pennant for all of our hard work during the last year up at the unit.  Our Royal Naval Presentation was well received by both Area staff and also friends, family and invited guests.

The second part of our celebrations related to our Treasurer, David Hann.  Mr Hann turned 80 on the 1st July and we wanted to thank him for all of his hard work and dedication over the years.

Armed Forces Day Exeter

On the 2nd July several of our cadets took a trip to Exeter to join other youth organisations and fellow Sea Cadets in the Armed Forces Day Parade from Exeter City's ground at St James Park all the way to Cathedral Green.  Almost two miles of marching in very warm weather!  The Rifles exercised their right to parade with their Freedom of the City of Exeter and they came through at the quick march.  Regimental bands, pipe bands and Barnstaple Marching Band added flavour to the occasion.  The Royal British Legion branches had a great turn out too.  Once the Parade was signed off the cadets enjoyed a drink and a hot pastie.

Meanwhile down at the Quay Junior Cadets were enjoying a day of powerboating and recruiting quayside.

A great day was had by all - thanks to Chief Chubb and Mummy P for taking us!

Tiverton Girls' Success at District Regatta

At the recent Devon District Regatta our Open Girls' Team were successful yet again with their rowing prowess!  They overcame stiff competition to take a place at SW Area Regatta which takes place on the 9th July in Bristol.

Our Boys' Team were unlucky not to qualify this year but as always held their heads up high.

A great day was had by all at Jupiter Point near Plymouth and we wish our Girls' Team all the very best as they train hard for Area.

Area staff (Cdr N Morton RN) and District staff attended our RNP to inspect the Unit and watch the evolutions laid on by the cadets.  The Deputy Mayor was in attendance as well as family and friends.  Senior cadets showed us what they are learning in the unit and Junior cadets held a very special "This is your life" night with music included, staff were most surprised to find themselves being interviewed about the life of TS Hermes.  Well done to all who took part, be proud of yourselves, and thank you to all who came to watch.  Now we await the results...
