Flagship visit

Flagship visit

Saturday 25th September saw an early start for some of our Cadets, we travelled to Weymouth to take part in a taster day aboard our flagship T.S.Royalist. Seamanship skills, Sea boat drills, hoisting and lowering sails plus steering the ship and controlling the engines was all part of our day out in Weymouth bay.  The Thornbury & District crew brought the vessel back  in to harbour and moored her up in front of crowds of visitors.

New Cadets join T.S. Battleaxe

Whilst starboard watch were out canoeing, our new cadets started their Sea Cadet experience by learning about ships heraldry and crests. They painted their own ships crest and took it home as a fridge magnet, we also played football during stand easy and had a proper tour of the unit.  Not bad for a first night.
