On Monday 12 December 2022, the ship's company celebrated the achievements of the cadets & instructors throughout 2022 by hosting a Presentation Evening that saw VIPs such as the Deputy Mayor and District Officer in attendance. Here is a breakdown of all our 2022 winners:

- New Entry Cadet of the Year Award: Cadet McKenzie
- Cadet Afloat Award: Able Cadet Mason
- Adult Volunteer of the Year Award: CI Gerald Campion
- Most Improved Cadet of the Year Award: Ordinary Cadet Luke
- Sea Cadet of the Year Award: Ordinary Cadet Ellouise
- Ambassador of the Year Award: Ordinary Cadet Alicia
- Jack Platt Community Spirit Award: Ordinary Cadet Autumn
- Junior Sea Cadet of the Year Award: Junior Cadet First Class Macie
- TS Scimitar Cadet of the Year Award: Able Cadet Mason

As you will have noticed in our recent Newsletter a date has been set for the Annual Awards Evening which will be attended by our Unit President, The Right Honourable, The Earl Of Derby and other VIP Guests including the Deputy Mayor of St Helens Cllr Lynn Clarke & our District Officer Lt Cdr (SCC) Michael Farrell RNR.

This prestigious event highlights the success of our cadets, which see them awarded for their hard work and commitment to the unit over the course of the year.

The awards evening will take place on Monday 12th December 2022 and I would like to formally invite you and your families to come along show support to our cadets.

The event will start at 19:30 prompt with our traditional colour’s ceremony followed by an inspection of the cadets by our Unit President, Lord Derby. A short interval will follow with Tea & Coffee refreshments available and the opportunity to talk with our Adult Volunteers.

To ensure there are no delays we ask that you arrive no later than 19:15 to be seated in time for us to start. The unit will be open for you to arrive from 19:00, alternatively feel free to come into the unit when dropping your cadet(s) off.

We will send a follow up email WC 5th December, for now we would be extremely grateful if you could complete this form indicating how many seats you would like so we have an idea of the number of attendees.

Excellent news from the Merseyside East District Football Competition today! ⚽

St Helens placed 5th overall and here are the individual results:

- Senior Girls Team (included 1 team player from Newton le Willows Sea Cadets ) - 1st Place 🥇

- Senior Boys Team - 2nd Place 🥈

- Junior Girls Team (included 1 team player from Newton le Willows Sea Cadets ) - 2nd Place 🥈

- Cadet Huey assisted Newton le Willows Sea Cadets Junior Boys Team to place 3rd 🥉

Last night the Ships Company raised £75 for BBC Children in Need by selling cakes, dressing in PJ's and just having fun. Thank you to everyone that donated to such a great cause 👏

St Helens Sea Cadets would like to thank Knauf Insulation St Helens Plant Community Team who have very kindly donated a Defibrillator which will be available to Unit members, as well as the local community. As quoted in the St Helens Star:

“It gives us the peace of mind to know that if the worst ever happens, we have the equipment in place needed to save lives."
