Scimitar Mudders 2023!

Scimitar Mudders 2023!

On 15th July 2023, Lt Heroic Hurst, S/Lt. Danger Dillon, PO Super Simpson, CI Brave Burns and PO Bruiser Burrows of the St Helens Sea Cadet unit will be bravely taking part in the muddiest day of their lives!

We're going to need all of the Teamwork, Respect, Loyalty, Self-Confidence, Commitment and Self-Discipline (sea cadet values) we can garner to tackle the 10 km course comprising of 20 obstacles and a HUGEEEE amount of mud!!

We are doing this to help raise the money needed to get the overnight accommodation licence back (amongst other things) for the St Helens unit. It will be a HUGE benefit to both the St Helens cadets and also those all over the North West as St Helens will be able to run area qualifications once again (Just like the good old days when 2 of our participants were cadets themselves!)

So wish us luck and (more importantly?) sponsor us in this crazy mudfest!

Appointment of new Officer-In-Charge at St Helens

Appointment of new Officer-In-Charge at St Helens

We are proud to announce that Lt (SCC) Paul Turner RMR will be succeeding SLT (SCC) James Dillon RNR as Officer-In-Charge at St Helens Sea Cadets.

Here are a few words from our new OiC:

"Firstly I’d like to Thank SLT (SCC) James Dillon RNR on his success as Commanding Officer over the last few years. James has consistently worked hard to develop St Helens Unit over his time in before and during being in Command. I’m delighted to see James is continuing to stay at the unit supporting the future of our unit. I attended St Helens Unit as Cadet from a Junior to Cadet Sergeant in the Royal Marines Cadets. Over the years developing friendships and memories in the unit which I still cherish to this day. I’ve completed several roles over the last few years from Detachment Commander of the ‘Best Detachment in the NW’ to District Training Officer and Assistant District Officer as well as Assistant Company Training Officer and Chief Instructor Skill At Arms. I look forward to working with the capable team at TS Scimitar and continuing to achieve milestones and better the unit in all aspects."

We wish Lt (SCC) Paul Turner RMR all the best in his new role at Scimitar!
