Marine Police Visit for Cadets of TS Collingwood

Marine Police Visit for Cadets of TS Collingwood

Our cadets recently visited Northumbria Police Marine Unit in Jarrow and were introduced into their every day work as a Marine Police officer.

The cadets were invited to come and look at the amazing facilities in Jarrow that hold the Marine Unit for Northumbria Police, catering for Police Divers, there fleet of boats and specialised officers that work within the department.

The team took us around the unit and showed us everything from their state of the art dive tank to their changing rooms and van that they use when called to jobs. The Cadets even got involved in trying on the dive gear and going into the compression chamber that they hold within the building.

Thoroughly enjoyed by all, the cadets then posed for a picture with the team and were invited back in the summer of 2019 for more of a look at their new boats!

A special thank you to the team for taking the time out of their busy day to show us around and we look forward to meeting you again soon!

Stadium of Light Collection

Stadium of Light Collection

24 Cadets and their amazing parents and staff all gathered on Sunday 19th of August to stand outside the Stadium of Light in the hope that they may fundraise some money towards the trip to Malta in 2019.

After a small rain shower and some black clouds lingering over the top of us! The cadets and their helpers all got to work outside the turnstiles of the stadium of light... one by one people passed dropping the odd penny in here and there and the kids laughed and enjoyed themselved througout the day, enjoying the opportunity to get pictures and comments from the players, masctos and fans passing by! There was even an appearance from a Police horse or two!

As the whistle blew and the crowds started to die down, the cadets were ready to call it a day at the turnstiles and return the money to the unit for counting!

After an hour or two or penny counting and totalling up our final figure came to a amazing: £1755.67

Well done to all the helpers, cadets, staff and parent's for giving up their sunday to make a difference for our unit!

Where will we be next?!

TS John Jerwood - Offshore Voyage 16-07-2018

20 July 2018

This week we saw 2 of our cadets join TS John Jerwood from Newcastle to Hull.

Our cadets joined the ship in Newcastle and set off for Hartlepool for the first leg of their journey!

As their journey progressed they did various different duties and learnt new skills onboard, working towards their Power Offshore 1.

Docked in Hartlepool, alongside TS Royalist, they got the chance to relax after a long day on the water,

Throughtout the rest of the week on their way to hull they expanded on their skills and began to delve into their Power Offshore Level 2!

Docked in Hull the cadets then relaxed and waited to make the journey home.

Enjoyed by both they are already planning to go on another trip with the district!
