Cadets Christmas Dinner

A good night was had by all. Staff and parents worked hard together to deliver 3 courses of piping hot food; of a superior quality, to nearly 30 cadets of varying dietary foibles.

Joyful times were nonetheless had by all.

Thank you to all those who helped out and round off the year with a bang.

Hope everyone had a cracking Christmas and Boxing Day and looking forward to the start of the new sea cadet year with lots of fun for the cadets and development for the unit.

Presentation Evening Dec 2015

Congratulations to all the cadets and staff at TS Wyvern for another splendid year of growth, progress and achievement.
Last night saw the culmination of that activity in the Annual Awards, Presentation Evening.
The house was packed to the rafters, with over including representatives from the Royal Naval Association and Royal British Legion. Also there to support us was the Deputy Mayor of Swale Councillor Lesley Ingham and the guest of honour presenting the awards was the Deputy Lieutenant of Kent Barry Duffield.
The evening began with Colours and then the Commanding Officer Petty Officer John Yaxley taking the Sea Cadet Oath from 4 Bluejackets and then 7 Junior Sea Cadets. He then presented qualification and specialisation awards the cadets had earned recently.
The Deputy Lieutenant was then asked to step forward an make present the Awards to the Cadets.
These were:
Consistent Attendance Certificates
Outstanding Attendance award
Endeavour Award
Boat Work Award
Smartest Cadet Award
Best Junior Sea Cadet Award
Best Cadet Award
There was also the Commanding Officers Award which goes to the members Instructional staff who has in the COs opinion given outstanding commitment and support to him and the unit over the last year.
This year that went to the First Lt, Petty Officer Laura Friday.
There was an additional element to the evening this year as the unit received and commissioned it's new Unit Standard. Sponsored by Councillor Sue Gent from her ward localism fund. Councilor Gent said "it was a privilege to do this in recognition of the amazing work the Sea Cadets do locally in Sittingbourne and the swale area. My own son benefited from being part of TS Wyvern many years ago. So it was only appropriate that I could help the unit in this way today."

Many people made the evening the outstanding success it was, not least the Cadets themselves.
Our grateful thanks go to all of you from parents, Carers, Local organisations, the Unit Management Committee, District and Area Staff. Special thanks to the three brave volunteers who ran the galley for us Kath Lambert, Julie Greenlaugh and Kelli Gardner. Also to Carol Hobart who stepped into the breach when we needed to replace our Pardre on the evening.
BZ All and onwards into 2016

BBC One Show

Thursday 12th November West Kent District supported The One Show and The Rickshaw Challenge for Children in Need.
Over 75 Cadets and Adult Staff (including 15 Sittingbourne cadets and 1 Adult staff) braved the wind and rain to cheer on Team Rickshaw. Each Cadet was a credit to their unit, Southern Area and the SCC. BZ to everyone who contributed to the successful and enjoyable event.

Rememberance 2015

Cadets from Sittingbourne & Milton Sea Cadets joined their community to commemorate those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the country and to show solidarity with those who came home to live with the aftermath.
Organised by the Royal British legion the day was a great success and TS Wyvern played a key role in that success providing a band as well as a divison of cadets.
BZ to all who were there!
