Remembrance Parade Shirley 13-11-2011

On Sunday 13th November cadets from our Unit joined members of the Shirley British Legion, cadets from the Royal Air Force , along with Guides, Brownies, Cubs and Scouts in the Annual parade to commemorate those men and women who have lost their lives in all conflicts since the start of the First World War.

Well done to all who took part and to the organisers of the parade.

Halloween Night 28-10-2011

On Friday 28th October the Unit help a Halloween night inviting Cadets, Parents and friends to a night of entertainment and food

Guests were invited to attend in appropriate attire and many did so.

They were able to partake in delicious eatable such as 'Bat Burgers', 'Rat Burgers'' Ra Sticks', 'Witches Brew' and 'Warlocks Wonder'

Congrats to all who took part and to the organisers and catering staff.

British Gas action day 25-10-11

On the 26th of October employees of British Gas gave up their time to paint the Unit Main Deck and a couple of class-rooms.

In addition some members of the Unit also lent a hand as did a local councillor Gary Allport.

Flag Day collection - 01-10-11 at Solihull Town...

On an annual basis we hold our Flag Day collection in the centre of Solihull,

This year we did extremely well considering the Flag day coincided with the District AT competition.

We raised a few pence over £404.

Cheque Presentation - Civic Centre - 28-09-11

Each year the retiring Mayor of Solihull presents to various voluntary organisations a donation in respect of their achievements during his year of Office.

The funds are raised by the Mayor’s office holding various events during the year.

This year the retiring Mayor, Cllr Ian Courts, present our Unit with a cheque for £1000 which was gratefully received by the Unit Chairman and two uniformed cadets.
