Busy Start to 2017!

Its been an extremely busy start to 2017, with lots of cadets completing their 3rd and 2nd class first aid qualifications over the last couple of months. The Juniors have also been busy completing their red module badges as you can see in the photos on our Facebook page! There's lots to look forward to over the next few months as well with the start of the boating season!

Christmas Mess Dinner

What a fantastic way to finish 2016!
Well done to everyone who attended our Christmas Mess Dinner last night which was a first for Rotherham Sea Cadets! It was great to see all the cadets together and special thanks to the Senior Staff Officer, District Officer and Deputy District Officer for all attending as well and making the evening so memorable.

Unit Boating Day!

Another wonderful day on the water for Rotherham Sea Cadets. With a few friends from Doncaster we spent the day rowing, sailing and power boating. With over half the unit in attendance it's great to see such great enthusiasm and commitment!

Appointment of First Lieutenant

A sad occasion at Rotherham Sea Cadets as we prepare to say goodbye to our First Lieutenant, PO (SCC) Tom Walker. Tom joined us a New Entry and worked his way up through the ranks to reach the rate of Petty Officer Cadet, ultimately becoming a valued member of staff and taking on the position of 1st Lt for the last 18 months. He has been an admirable role model for the cadets and a committed member of staff. Tom leaves us to join the Royal Fleet Auxiliary. We are all incredibly proud and pleased for him and look forward to seeing him at the unit whenever he has leave.

We welcome A/PO (SCC) Laura Duxbury as the new First Lieutenant. Laura has been involved with the Sea Cadets for a number of years, beginning her career at Sheffield. Interestingly though, her first unit weekend was at Rotherham. Laura has a specialist interest in boating; she is a Level 1 Paddlesport Coach and also enjoys sailing and windsurfing. She has a wide range of skills and interests and has a background of working with young children, organising engineering taster sessions for the University and directing youth theatre!

We wish them both all the best in their upcoming challenges and endeavours.

Community Events

It's been a very busy couple of weeks for TS Repulse! Firstly cadets were at the Rotherham Show putting on a field gun display as well as taking part in a series of fun competitions against other local cadets. This weekend we were also invited to Thrybergh Open Day and the cadets once again took part in a wide variety of activities, including how to rig a sailing boat and learning about the principles of sailing! Well done everyone!
