T.S. Lochinvar Cadets Lend a Hand at Queensferry’s Priory Church

On Sunday, 2nd February 2025, cadets from T.S. Lochinvar took part in a community service activity at The Priory Church, Queensferry. Three cadets from Astute Division helped carefully pack away the Christmas Crib display, ensuring its safe storage for next year.

The cadets involved were:

  • NEC G. Higgins
  • Cdt 1st Class K. Smith
  • Cdt 1st Class P. MacNeil

As part of their commitment to community engagement, each cadet contributed valuable volunteer hours, with NEC Higgins successfully completing her Community Activity module, advancing her progress within the Sea Cadet Corps.

We are grateful to Chaplain I. MacRobert for the opportunity to assist with this task and to Sgt Hendry and our Unit Chair for supporting the cadets on the day.

Sea Cadets provides young people with opportunities to develop leadership, teamwork, and community spirit through a range of engaging activities.

Lord Hopetoun expressed his admiration for the cadets’ enthusiasm and accomplishments, saying:
To cover the full range of experiences from rocket science to drill was commendable and combined with the most marvellous enthusiasm.

During the visit, Lord Hopetoun also reflected on the longstanding relationship between TS Lochinvar and Hopetoun House. He praised the cadets’ invaluable support for events such as the annual Cancer Research Race for Life, which highlights the shared commitment to community service.

Lt (SCC) Andy Malarky RMR, Commanding Officer of TS Lochinvar, said:
“We were delighted to host Lord Hopetoun and provide a glimpse of the incredible work our cadets undertake. His support and encouragement mean a great deal to us all, and we look forward to continuing this partnership in the future.”
