2019 Award

The unit was honoured in 2019 when one of our Able Cadets was selected to represent the District as Lord Lieutenant's Cadet at formal functions throughout the year. This is her description.

"Being the Lord’s Lieutenant's Cadet was an experience that all cadets should have. I was given so many incredible opportunities and met so many amazing people such as Prince Charles and Lady Camilla. Furthermore, I had the chance to get to know people from other cadet corps and learn about them and what they do.

I also presented a poem for a Remembrance ceremony in Swansea for the Poppy appeal and attended many events throughout the year.

The best part was the Presentation dinner when I received my Lord Lieutenant's badge and I ordered garlic mushrooms and I had a soup not deep fried breaded mushrooms.

Being a Lord Lieutenant's Cadet gave me a chance to develop my personal skills such as my confidence and social skills.

Overall, being a Lord Lieutenant's cadet was one of my greatest achievements and gave me many good memories which will stay with me for a life time."

We remain very proud of her achievements.

Hair for Wigs

One of our Unit Assistants, Mrs Ring had promised to cut her long hair to make a wig for chemotherapy patients. She decided to use the opportunity to raise funds and share the money raised between the Sue Ryder Hospice which cared for a friend last year and our Sea Cadet Unit.

CI Evans' Challenge for a Quest

   St James's place

CI Mark Evans, one of our Sailing Instructors spent last summer in training. He completed two half marathons to raise funds for an RS Quest.

He was lucky to gain extra sponsorship from Stephen Booth of St James's Trust, pictured here at the Annual Presentation Evening giving the Cadets with a cheque for £2000.

We are glad to announce that the RS quest has now been delivered and will be named in honour of Marks' late father Norman Evans, affectionately known as "Farmer"
