Our Cadets did incredibly well at the Sea Cadet National Sailing and Windsurfing Regatta. Leading Cadet Lewis came 4th place in the RS Zest dinghy Class and Cadet 1sts Imogen and Jade came 9th in the RS Quest Class. Leading Cadet Austin came 2nd place in the 4.8m Windsurfing category. Fabulous results all round!

There was also a bit of a surprise, when HRH Princess Anne came to visit the Cadets in her role as Admiral of the Sea Cadet Corps. She went afloat to see the Cadets in action, and she also got to chat to different groups with L/Cdt Austin part of the Windsurfing Competitors who spoke to her – something that will stay long in the memory!

Following customer blue token voting in our local Tesco Stores, Portland Sea Cadets were delighted to be awarded with a £1,000 Tesco Stronger Starts grant!  This has made a huge difference to our Cadets as it has enabled us to purchase the equipment needed to be able to teach catering courses to young people and to also provide the key equipment needed more broadly within our recently refurbished Galley, to give much improved fcailities that the Cadets can be justifiably proud of! 

With the new catering equipment, we have already been able to deliver the first basic catering course, and the sessions have gone down a storm with the Cadets gaining a real sense of achievement and inspiration!
