Area Boat Station weekend

Area Boat Station weekend

Cadets from across the Cambs & Fens District enjoyed a weekend in the sun at Sea Cadet Training Centre Thrapston this weekend (30th August - 1st September).

Ordinary Cadet Lee gained Power Level 1, the first step on the ladder towards being qualified to drive a power boat on her own and Marine Cadet 2nd Class Fagg gained his Stage 2 sailing, half way towards his driving licence for a sailing boat, a superb effort and great achievements for them both. Also, L/Cpl Bettoney and New Entry Cadet Stanfield took to the water in sailing boats providing them with more experience to support their progression up the sailing ladder to Stages 3/4... An excellent result all round!

Donation of Silver Bugle

Donation of Silver Bugle

Deputy Leader of Suffolk County Council, CCllr Mrs Lisa Chambers kindly donated a silver bugle to the unit to teach cadets and be used at our local parades.  CCllr Chambers continues to support the unit from year to year and we very much appreciate all that Mrs Chambers does for us.

3 years service recognised for Instructors

PO's Simpson and Hadley were awarded their 1st service stripe reflecting their 3 years with the SCC (not taking into account previous service as an independent unit). Both instructors are an asset to the unit & PO Hadley was one of the unit founders.  The badges were presented by Commander Bagot-Jewitt RN DL at the 2013 Royal Naval Parade.
