SEA CADETS BAG PACK AT ASDA BYKER

SEA CADETS BAG PACK AT ASDA BYKER

It was all go for Sea Cadets and staff here at Newcastle East unit after being given a date for a bag pack.  We were lucky enough to be given the first bag pack this year for Asda, Byker on Saturday 18th January 2014.

The Cadets soon got into the swing of things packing hundreds of bags between 10am and 4pm.  We were delighted with the outcome and raised £480, a fantastic effort.  All the funds raised will be reinvested in to the cadets to give them a great head start in life through nautical adventure and fun.

REMEMBRANCE PARADE 2013

REMEMBRANCE PARADE 2013

This year we once again took part in the City of Newcastle's Remembrance Parade.  We were very grateful for Newburn unit for joining us on the day.  A slight change this year was when the Junior Cadets paraded alongside the Junior Cadets of Newburn.  They were as 'good as gold'. A very cold day but it bought it back to heart when we remembered the heros. 'Lest we Forget'

SEA CADETS VISIT LOCAL FIRE STATION

SEA CADETS VISIT LOCAL FIRE STATION

With only a week to go before Halloween it was a timely opportunity to visit the Byker Community Fire Station.  Within minutes of arriving at the station the alarms went, the crew had a call out.  We were very grateful for the personnel who were left on stage to give us a presentation on Bonfire's and Fireworks.

The cadets then had a tour of the Fire Station looking over a stand-by appliance and they were also lucky to see the Swift Water Rescue equipment.

This is one of many visits we do throughout the year.  Thank you once again Tyne & Wear Fire and Rescue Service.  We appreciate your prevention work.

SEA CADETS HAVE A FANTASTIC TIME OFFSHORE

SEA CADETS HAVE A FANTASTIC TIME OFFSHORE

Three Sea Cadets recently enjoyed a week long voyage onboard the Training Ship Jack Petchy.  The cadets first had a tour of the ship and enjoyed visiting many different places that they hadn't been to before including, Cowes, Isle of Wight, Weymouth and Poole, Dorset and Portsmouth, Hampshire.  They learned lots of new skills from stewarding, washing dishes, steering the vessel, navigating and keeping a lookout to name a few.  At the end of the week they all gained their Offshore Hand Level 1. Well done!
