On a scorching day our cadets rose to the occasion brilliantly, recording enough wins and seconds to retain the overall rowing trophy as well as taking the Yole ( pictured) title for the first time.  If this wasn't enough, our cadets discovered a fallen and unconscious cyclist and, befitting national first-aid champions, he was tended by cadets and staff until an ambulance arrive to take him to A&E.

Held at Thames Valley Park on a fast-flowing river, our cadets performed magnificently in totally alien conditions.  Our four first places and a host of seconds were not quite enough to prevent Oxford unit snatching back the Paddlesports trophy but "we will be back"!  The Cross Stream event was postponed due to the 3-4 knot current and will take place at Oxford later in June.

APO Hannah Perris applied and was accepted to be one of the staff members that were at Wembley Stadium on 27 May for the League 1 play-off final between Shrewsbury and Rotherham.  She spent the night at the Kingston-upon-Thames unit and was up at 5am preparing for the event.

Along with cadets and staff, mainly from the London Area, Hannah, one of our newer staff, is seen to the right of the mascot.  Congratulations Hannah on your contribution to the corps' visibility at this national event.

On Tuesday 9^th August at Emberton Park Sailing Club, we were honoured with a visit by the Mayor and Mayoress of Milton Keynes. Despite the inclement weather, Councillor and Mrs Hopkins appeared to enjoy their visit and Cllr. Hopkins sportingly donned a buoyancy aid and went afloat. He quickly demonstrated that, as a former Bedford School pupil, he was no slouch with an oar and only left the water when fading light stopped play.

Milton Keynes Sea Cadets were honoured by a visit from Captain Phil Russell, a serving Royal Navy officer and the Captain of the Sea Cadet Corps(CSC), to their Kiln Farm Headquarters. This was the first such visit for many years and took the form of an informal observation of a unit drill night rather than the formal spectacle of the Royal Navy Parade held every other year.

 At the end of the evening Capt. Russell made many awards and promotions Including a national award to Lt. Paul Riley, our former Officer Commanding Royal Marine Cadets, and went on to say how impressed he was with all that he had seen which confirmed his decision to award us a rarely-given CSC's commendation last year. Capt. Russell closed by saying that any urging to do more would be superfluous as we were clearly doing something right and should continue to do so.
