Looking for adventure, fun and to make lots of new friends? Middlesbrough Sea Cadets Unit will be doing all this on Tuesday 21st February 2017, and young people aged 10 -12 with parents are invited to attend.
The event, which will feature games, fun, competitions, prizes and more, takes place on Tuesday 21st February 2017 at East Lodge, Albert Park, Middlesbrough, TS1 3LB between 12pm and 6pm.
Young people and their parents can tour the unit, chat to volunteers and cadets and see some impressive displays, which aim to encourage more young people and volunteers to join the unit.
Petty Officer (SCC) Matthew Stamp, Middlesbrough’s Commanding Officer, said: “This is a great opportunity for the young people of Middlesbrough and it will give them a chance first hand to see what activities we get up to twice a week”.
“It’s a fun way to get to know other young people in the area and you’ll make some great friends and learn new skills that will give you a great head start in life and will really boost your confidence.”
Middlesbrough Sea Cadets opened in September 1942 at the Newport Boys’ Club on Newport Road. It has supported thousands of young people in Middlesbrough to learn nautical skills, with 15 cadets currently attending, supported by 9 volunteers. However, more are always welcome.
Middlesbrough, which is part of national charity Sea Cadets, gives young people a new perspective. We broaden horizons and create possibilities. Working across the UK with 14,000 young people between 10 and 18, we help them see the world with confidence, gained through the challenge of nautical adventure and a Royal Navy ethos. Our aim is to help more young people to see the future that they want – and make that future happen.
The unit is open Monday and Thursday evenings from 6:30pm till 9:15pm, and meets at East Lodge, Albert Park, Middlesbrough, TS1 3LBVisit: www.sea-cadets.org/middlesbrough to find out how you can join.
