Summer BBQ

The Unit held a Summer BBQ on the 31st July 2016 at Brompton Academy. There were lots of events to participate in on the day including air rifle shooting, football challenge, cakes, soak the staff and others. The aim of the day was to raise money for the unit in order to purchase new boating equipment.

In total the day raised just under £400. A great effort to all who participated.

Armed Forces Day 2016

Armed Forces Day 2016

On Saturday 25th June 2016, the Medway Towns Sea Cadets attended Medway Armed Forces Day on the Great Lines. This is an annual event which celebrates the hard work the Armed Forces do for the Country.

The Unit had been training with the Field Gun to put on an arena display however, due to the weather this plan sadly had to be abandoned. The Cadets and Staff still participated in the parade in great force. Well done to all who attended and supported the event.

T500 Naming Ceromony

On the 29th June the Unit named our two Trinity 500 rowing boats.

The Oliver J Martin and the Captain Eric were officially named in the presence of Capt Eric Beethams wife and the Page family.

Captain Beetham was a supporter of Medway Towns Sea Cadets and The Marine Society & Sea Cadets nationally, who sadly passed away in 2014.

The Oliver J Martin was named in recognition of the contribution made by the Page family in providing the boat.

Commanding Officer Lt (SCC) Buck Buckingham RNR said "These two rowing boats will add to our fleet of boats, they will mean more young people of Medway will continue to enjoy the cadet experience, with boating being at the heart of everything we do."
