24 Hour Sail

24 Hour Sail

5th May

A small team of selected cadets woke up early to attempt an enduring test of their stamina – the 24 hour sail…   The cadets had to race round a selected route as many times as they could in the 24 hours.  This entailed sailing for long hours in the cold wet weather, making as few changes as possible to ensure a keeping within pole position.   The cadets had to be completely self-sufficient (so no popping to the chippy!!) and had to be ready to sail at any time rotating the few cadets allowed in each team and be prepared for any weather in the forever changing conditions – whilst making the most of being off water (getting some shut eye and feeding their tummies!! )  Well done to all the cadets who attended this hugely challenging competition!

Advex Competition

Advex Competition

21st April

Many Sea Cadet units came to our unit to partake in an advex competition.  They had to navigate their way through various check points, getting their next destination at the next check point, and so requiring quick thinking to stay ahead.  After a nights camp they then had to navigate their way back to the unit to try to attempt various  evolutions, such as first aid challenges, obstacle courses and archery.  Well done to all those who attended this physically and mentally challenging competition!!

Inspection

Inspection

19th April

We had our annual inspection, the first one in our new unit. Along with the inspection our cadets also included a humorous demonstration of various things that they have learnt and enjoy in cadets - evolutions.  These evolutions were demonstrated following the style of “X-factor” adding yet more comedy to the cadet’s superb imagination.
