Hereford's River Carnival is a day of fun for everyone. celebrating the beauty and vitality of the River Wye and the life that it brings to the city of Hereford.  Junior Cadets enjoyed making a float with poppies to mirror the Hereford Cathedrals recent Weeping Window exhibit, whilst AC Josh, AC Ivor and AC Joe, under the supervision of Lt Cdr Sheils supported all the river activities as Safety Officers.  Senior Cadets were also involved in running the tombola and recruitment stand, raising much needed funds for the Unit.  Well done to all the cadets and staff involved.

Lord-Lieutenant's Cadets Awards 2018

Lord-Lieutenant's Cadets Awards 2018

The Herefordshire Lord-Lieutenant's Cadet Awards took place on the evening of Thursday 23rd March at the Shire Hall, Hereford.

The Lord-Lieutenant acts as Her Majesty the Queen's representative in Herefordshire, attending functions on her behalf when she is unable to attend, accompanying royal visitors and bestowing awards in her stead.  The Lord-Lieutenant appoints a cadet from each of the cadet organisations to aid in these various activities - one from the Sea Cadets, Combined Cadet Force, Army Cadet Force and Air Training Corps.  Each cadet is selected from the best senior cadets in each unit across the county and recognises the outstanding service by an individual to their Cadet organisation.

The prestigious event marks the completion of the year in office for the four outgoing Lord-Lieutenant's Cadets.  The outgoing cadets each made a speech reflecting on their year in the office, before being thanked by Lady Darnley, Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Herefordshire, for their service to her and were each presented with a framed certificate.  Citations were then ready by the Commanding Officer's from each of the units of the four incoming Lord-Lieutenant's Cadets, following which each cadet was presented with badges of office by Lady Darnley.

For the second year in a row the Sea Cadet member of the Lord-Lieutenant's Cadets comes from our very own Hereford unit.  Huge congratulations to Able Cadet Pheonix-Louise for her appointment as Lord-Lieutenant Cadet for the next 12 months taking over from the outgoing Able Cadet Ivor.
