Eden Camp

Our Junior Sea Cadets recently took part in a visit to the infamous Eden Camp, a former world war two POW camp, turned museum.

The cadets spent the day going from hut to hut and learning about all the different historical aspects of both world wars. A lot was learned and a wonderful time was had by all (even CI Davidson).

Gosforth Unit Hosts The Sheriff Of Newcastle

Last week the cadets of TS Dauntless played host to the Sheriff of Newcastle. High Sheriff Winskell OBE DL was delighted to meet our team and took the time to meet and inspect each individual cadet. The cadets worked very hard to prepare and it was wonderful to see the standard of their uniforms was so high. Later in the evening, she and her associates took part in a few lessons and were kind enough to pose for a few photos too.

A Visit From The Coastguard

TS Dauntless was happy to receive a visit from Blyth coastguard recently, who were kind enough to take a couple of hours out of their busy schedule to teach the cadets about what they do. After a quick presentation on their organisation, they showed us some of their specialist equipment, which the cadets were all too eager to help them demonstrate. Then everyone filed outside for a look around their ATV and a quick 'safety line throwing contest' (which most of us would agree that L/Cpl Davies won). Before the coastguard left, our junior cadets presented them with a poster and a model that they had made as a thank you gift. A thoroughly enjoyable evening was had by all.

Area Drill Results!

After recent competition successes, TS Dauntless had drill teams for both the RMC detachment and Sea Cadets qualify for Area...

Once again, the cadets did extremely well and, despite a high standard of competition our Sea Cadet drill team managed to achieve second place and our RMC squad came in first; securing a place in the National level drill competition in April this year. This means that our cadets will be representing the whole of Northern Area in the highest level of drill competition open to SCC cadets.

A massive congratulations to all of our cadets and a big thank you to the parents and staff who have supported them through training! Good luck RMC team!

Competition Success!

February has been a great month for TS Dauntless with a lot of competition successes!

Firstly our Marine Cadet Guard team picked up 1st place at the district drill competition and our Sea Cadet squad was right there with them, also picking up 1st place! The award for 'Best Guard Commander' went to our own Lance Corporal James Davies and 'Best Squad Commander' to Leading Cadet Megan Jordan!

As if that wasn't enough, Gosforth unit would be picking up the silverware again a week later at the district piping competition. Cadet 1st Class Slater took the 1st place award in the 'Individual Piper' category and our team managed to grab 2nd place overall!

A massive well done to all of our cadets who worked so hard to achieve such a wonderful result for the unit.
