The majority of the Ships complan wer on board with a few absenteeisms due to Sea Cadet courses, birthdays, illness and even a McFly concert!

The unit has been reccomended for a burgee for the second year running, the highest efficiancy award that a unit can achieve, well done and thank you to everyone involved.

The units cadets were heavily involved in the Queens Diamond Jubilee celebrations. The unit lit one of the 2012 beacons around the country, two of our cadets were on TS Royalist, the Sea Cadets flagship on the Thames, and a crew from the unit made up one of the 55 boats in the Queens escort as she made her way down the Thames. Each boat had a flag of one of the commonwealth countries flying from it, ours carried the Union Flag! OC Garside from the unit told BBC Look North she felt 'special' to have been chosen to represent the unit. The cadets featured on both BBC and ITV news and a fantastic day was had by them all.
