LC & POC Advancement Board 23-25 May 2008

LC & POC Advancement Board 23-25 May 2008

Congratulations to AC Leach who passed the board and now becomes LC Leach.
Congratulations also to LC Pett who passed the board to become POC Pett. She now becomes one of only three Petty Officer Cadets in the Cornwall District and is the youngest to achieve this Rank. POC Pett joined the Unit at 10 years old in 2002 as a Junior Cadet and after two years was enrolled as a Cadet. Since then she has progressed through the ranks (OC, AC & LC), gained much experience through courses and qualifications with a total of 71 points. POC Pett is a committed and enthusiastic cadet and it is poignant that POC Pett achieved this advancement as it has been ten years since TS Robert Hichens last had a POC in the Unit and that was Richard Jorey who is now a member of staff.

Minibus arrives at last - 2008

We are very pleased to announce that we have taken delivery of our own minibus. We have waited a long time for this and we would like to thank our Madam Chairman, Gill Grant, together with the UMC (Unit Management Committee) for all their efforts in fundraising. Thank you.

UPDATE - The mini bus has had a "face lift", so everyone will know who we are and where we come from!

YSS Stage 3 Sailing Course

We held a dinghy sail training course for those cadets that held the YSS Stage 2 qualification so that they might progress to the next level.  The weekend was blessed with perfect weather and the most was made of the conditions using a combination of Picos, Toppers and Bosuns.

Area Drill Competition 2008

Area Drill Competition 2008

The Area Drill Competition was held at HMS Raleigh on 2 March 2008.  There were eight Districts competing in the Armed Guard section and the Unit was well supported by many family members making the journey to support the cadets. The Team Falmouth came 4th but the markings were close - so to all those in Area watch out we will be back!
AC V Littlewood gave a brave performance in the indivdual piping but missed out on the trophy.
