Training that counts

Training that counts

I am delighted to announce that Bedfordshire Sea Cadets have got their RYA status. This is internationally recognised training and personal development and we hope will increase the number of locally produced boating qualifications.
After starting the project 2 years ago I am really pleased to have received our certification today.
The centre is open to all Bedfordshire Sea Cadets and I hope to start training pretty soon.
If you're interested in becoming a Sea Cadet to benefit from a practical and fun sport please find out how to join your local unit from http//sea cadets.org
We hope to provide training under the YOU programme at some point in the future.

Summer Camp SCTC Caledonia 2016

Summer Camp SCTC Caledonia 2016

Staff and cadets from Dunstable and Luton Sea Cadets visited SCTC Caledonia for a weeks boating at Port Edgar.
Well done to the cadets who did really well sailing and boating in some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK.
Based at the foot of the Forth Road and Rail bridges at Port Edgar saw the cadets navigate and sail in moderate conditions.
The weather was great for power boating but challenging at times for the sailors and the windsurfers. I must congratulate all the cadets for the skills developed and qualifications gained.
Many thanks to the instructors and staff at SCTC Caledonia for hosting us and taking the time to instruct so skilfully.
A great week.

Royal Marines Band Service

Royal Marines Band Service

Dunstable Sea Cadets would like to wish AC Ellis all the best for his future. AC Ellis has been accepted to start his Phase 1 training with Royal Marines Band Service in September.
During his time as a cadet, AC Ellis has played in The Massed Bands of the Sea Cadets at the National Trafalgar Day Parade and at The Birmingham Tattoo. He was invited to play as part of the band in last year's Lord Mayor of London's parade and was selected as a member of the band for the naming of the new flagship TS Royalist by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal last May.
Good luck and come back to see us.

Spirit of the high seas

Spirit of the high seas

Today took us to Girton Sailing Club where we took part in our Area Regatta. Our rowing team managed to just miss winning in a very climactic race which saw our team give their all to be pipped at the post in an almost photo finish. It was great to see you all give your best to make such an exciting race. Well done you.
Sorry to Tim and Agnes who managed to get Duty throughout the night, you both looked really tired, hope you both get a well earned rest tomorrow. Please don't forget the boat.
Thanks to Josh and Alex for their help, hope you enjoy the disco.
Well done to Bedford and Flitwick and Ampthill Units from Bedfordshire District for their places and the latter unit goes to the National competition.
Thanks to the District staff from all our Units for their time this weekend.
