Successful Grant Application

We are very pleased to announce that we have successfully applied for and received match funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund through the South West Landscape Partnership. This has allowed us to purchase oars for our Trinity rowing boats and an asymmetric spinnaker kit for the RS Quest Dinghy.

The equipment will be used as part of Sea Cadet Training to support the cadets gain their waterborne hours, rowing & sailing qualifications. It will also be used to support the cadets in both the Physical and Skills Sections of the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme.

These outdoor activities increase the cadet’s awareness and enjoyment of the South West Peak natural environment.

In addition to the Buxton Cadets the rowing boats and dinghy will be used by cadets across the Chestaffs District.

Rememberance Day Parade 2013

Rememberance Day Parade 2013

The unit paraded as part of the remembrance day parade at the buxton cenotaph on Sunday the 10th November 2013. We marched from the market place to the cenotaph alonside the TA, Air Cadets and Army Cadets. We then took part in the ceremony and marched down to the Pavilion Gardens for refreshments. here is what the CO had to say:

To everyone that turned out on Sunday I was exceptionally proud of you. You were all extremely smart and Marched in time despite the cold day. A credit to the unit. Even the Air cadets commented how good our marching was. Many of the people I spoke to afterwards were extremely impressed. You all up held the traditions of the Sea Cadet Corps and our Unit in Fine Style

WELL DONE.

We also had a comment from a Member of the public and an Ex-Cadet. James Lawton who said this:

"Sea Cadets easily stole the show yesterday, more of you guys than the air and army cadets put together.
Made me proud to have been part of it yesterday.
Well done to all of you"

BZ to everyone who helped the day to be such a success.
