TS Brighton Sea Cadets Pay Tribute at Scorching Brighton Armed Forces Day

BRIGHTON — Cadets and staff from TS Brighton proudly marched at the annual Brighton Armed Forces Day yesterday, Saturday 27th June 2026, to honour the nation's military community.

Standing Tall in the Heat

The summer heatwave prompted a shift to relaxed uniform regulations for the day. Cadets paraded in a smart "dress down" version of their Number 1 uniform, removing their heavy jackets to stay safe and cool in the soaring temperatures.

Despite the intense heat, the unit maintained immaculate standards of dress and posture throughout the event. Their discipline drew high praise from visiting veterans and members of the public alike.

Honouring Our Veterans

Unlike previous years, the unit focused entirely on the formal parade and commemorative ceremonies rather than running a promotional stand. This allowed the cadets to dedicate their full attention to supporting the local community and standing shoulder-to-shoulder with our Armed Forces.

"I am incredibly proud of how our young people handled the heat," said the Commanding Officer of TS Brighton. "They showed true resilience and respect, proving themselves to be fantastic ambassadors for the Sea Cadet Corps."

TS Brighton Sea Cadets to Attend Immersive ‘Take Shelter’ Event This Armed Forces Day

BRIGHTON — Local Sea Cadet unit TS Brighton will be among the visitors attending the renowned 'Take Shelter' exhibition this Armed Forces Day, marking a unique community gathering to explore the city's wartime history.

On Saturday, June 27th, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, members of the public are invited to join the Sea Cadets at Downs Junior School to step inside the UK's only fully restored, public school air raid shelter.

Hidden three meters beneath the school playground, the Take Shelter museum features reconstructed 1940s dioramas, rare local photography, and a realistic short air raid simulation. Visitors can experience the guided tours of the interconnecting tunnels, meet the attending Sea Cadets, and chat with local wartime veterans who will also be present for the day.

Discover Your Next Adventure

If you see the Sea Cadets on the day, come over and have a chat about how you can get involved with TS Brighton. The unit is actively looking for new members to join their tight-knit crew, with opportunities for everyone:

  • As a Cadet: Open to young people looking for adventure, water sports, teamwork, and life-changing skills.

  • As a Uniformed Adult Instructor: Lead from the front, pass on nautical skills, and help shape the leaders of tomorrow.

  • As a Non-Uniformed Volunteer: Share your skills and help out behind the scenes without the commitment of wearing a uniform.

  • As Part of the Unit Management Team: Use your professional experience (finance, fundraising, admin, or logistics) to help run and secure the future of the local charity.

Event Details:

  • Date: Saturday, Armed Forces Day (June 27th)

  • Time: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

  • Location: Downs Junior School (Access via the gate on Ditchling Road), Brighton

  • Postcode: BN1 6ED

BRIGHTON SEA CADETS LAUNCH FIRST-EVER CHARITY RUNNING
CAMPAIGN FOR BRIGHTON & HOVE 10K

BRIGHTON, UK – I am proud to announce that Brighton Sea Cadets is
launching its first-ever official charity campaign for the Brighton & Hove 10K,
taking place on Sunday 4 April 2027. We have requested 10 exclusive charity
places for this iconic coastal event, marking a major milestone in our unit's
community fundraising efforts.

The flat and fast 10K course, which forms part of the celebrated Brighton
Marathon Weekend, will see our dedicated crew of ten runners hit the seafront
to raise vital funds. Every penny raised from this campaign will directly support
us in providing life-changing maritime training, leadership qualifications, and
adventure activities for local young people.

As London Marathon Events (LME) finalises the official charity allocations
over the summer, we are opening our early-access waiting list today. I am
inviting members of the public, cadet families, and local runners to register
their interest immediately to secure one of our limited spots.

Taking on the Brighton & Hove 10K allows us to bring the community together
on land to support our young people at sea. With just ten places requested, I
expect demand to be high. Every stride our runners take will help us buy
essential equipment, fund offshore voyages, and keep our doors open to
youth from all backgrounds across Brighton.

We welcome applications from runners of all abilities—whether you are a
seasoned athlete looking for a personal best or a complete beginner tackling
your very first 10K distance. If you join our crew, I will make sure you receive
dedicated fundraising support, tips, and a charity running vest to wear with
pride on race day.

If you want to secure one of our 10 charity places and run for Brighton Sea
Cadets, please email me directly at fundraising@brightonseacadets.org.uk
to join our official waiting list.
