That's a wrap 2023!

That's a wrap 2023!

As I sit and reflect on the past 12 months 2023 has been significant for Birmingham Sherbourne.

We have grown as a unit and built good relationships, teamwork is really dreamwork.

The year started with the Drill and Piping Competetion, which showed how amazing our young people really are.- 2024 we will smash it!

We have built a new UMT and are all working together to acieve a safe environment for the cadets and staff on board!

many promotions and qualifications have been achieved.

As a unit we celebrated the Kings coronation- had some amazing fun, bouncy castles, food, plenty of games oh and also the Stocks- this was so much fun to let the cadets throw wet sponges at thier seniors

One of our cadets was proudly representing Birmingham Sherbourne at the Kings coronation parade in London

A juniour cadet was picked to pipe at the Birmingham Council house for the big help out - thsi was a world record breaker.

Birmingham Sherbourne has undertook lots of community events- helping out where we can and when we can- Cleaning allotments, local Farye's, Bartley green water events, to name a few.

We as a unit have spent lots of time over the summer on our water gaining cadets extra skills in waterbourne activities, this not only helps to develop new skills but builds teamwork and confidence to grow into adults.

Adult Volunteers, UMT all joined our cadets to also learn new skills, we have been busy obtaining qulaificatiosn throughout the year.

A day to remember was out annual kayaking event- some of use have not been in one for many many years but we attempted it - no we didnt fall in and yes we made good money for the unit.

As a unit we also had our annual Unit review with the District officer and his team - which went amazing we also welcomed our Area Officer for out bi-annual Royal Naval Parade- much thanks to all families who came to support and our unit was buzzing!

We as a unit have grown, we have welcomed more uniformed staff, non uniformed staff and volunteers. we also have grown cadet wise, this is showing how amazing we are at Birmingham Sherbourne - everyone is welcome aboard!

We also threw our cadets and families a Spooky, Halloween party, Yesterday was our final Parade day and in style we provided a Christmas lunch/party for our cadets with 3 special guests,

In a nutshell, 2023 has been amazing and we have grown, acheived and developed into a unit to be proud of, I can honestly say Birmingham Sherbourne you are my extended family

2024- we are coming for you! one thing is for sure- as a unit and a team we will continue to suceed, and strive to deliver the best cadet experience we can

See you all Sunday 7th January 2024- have a merry christmas and a happy new year, be safe and have fun- remember even tho the unit is closed the staff are still around, working hard behind the scenes but if you need us then we are here.
