Annual Street Collection

On Saturday 14th September 2013 between 1100 and 1600, Belfast Eagle completed their annual Shankill Road street collection. Cadets, Officers and members of the Unit Management Committee all turned up in their best uniforms to help out in the collection.

During the collection, there were unit representatives outside the Spectrum Centre, Co Op Food, Iceland, varies shops and on the main road. From this collection, the unit was able to raise an outstanding £1489; the largest amount the unit has ever collected!  In addition to the money collected, the unit also received a free hair cut and dye from JC Barbers, a £10 voucher from Mooney’s Butchers and a £10 voucher from Stevenson W Florist.  

Belfast Eagle would like to thank all the residents, shoppers, local businesses, car drivers, taxis and buses for their donations, big or small. This money raised is very much appreciated and will help towards the completion of Belfast Eagle’s new unit and towards future training of cadets.

Belfast Eagle would like to congratulate PO Lee Barlow on gaining his Rowing Coaches qualification. To gain this, PO Lee Barlow had to go away for the weekend starting on Friday 13th September to Dundee were he had to go through a number of assessments.

Level 2 Power Qualification

Level 2 Power Qualification

Belfast Eagle would like to congratulate APOC Nikita McCoubrey, LC Amy Kingston and AC Matthew Hunter on receiving their Level 2 Power Boating qualification. To gain this, these three cadets had to attend a two day course between Saturday 31st August and 1st September. During these days, all three cadets had to complete a number of theory lessons, carry out a number of manoeuvres and undertake a practical assessment.

Congratulations to Leading Junior Cadet Zhara Hunter being the first junior cadet of Belfast Eagle to received the Commandores Broad Pennant award on Monday 19th August 2013. This award is given to a Junior Cadet who has completed all their red, blue, green and yellow modules as well as 20 additional modules.

Basic Camp Craft Qualification

On Friday 16th August 2013, Belfast Eagle had their first two day summer camp for all cadets of Belfast Eagle to attend. During this APOC Nikita McCoubrey, LC Amy Kingston, AC Matthew Hunter, AC Patrick Bingham, OC Adam Hanna, CDT James Moore, CDT Ethan Barnes, CDT James Smith, LJC Zhara Hunter, JC Nadia McAuley, JC Madison Cordiner and JC Olivia Smith all received their Basic Camp Craft qualification after building tents, creating a camp fire, cooking on the open fire and map reading.

Belfast Eagle would like to congratulate all of these cadets in receiving this qualification. This was the first basic camp craft weekend held by the unit.
