At Bangor we aim to give young people an experience that will help them grow into the person they want to be in a safe and friendly environment. Through various activities and adventures, we learn teamwork, respect, loyalty, self-confidence, commitment, self-discipline, honesty and how to be the best version of ourselves.

You learn life skills. I was 12, very quiet and shy. Cadets makes you find the confidence. You feel part of something special. Serafina, 15
We offer a range of different activities from sailing, windsurfing and powerboating - to rock climbing, camping, and music - plus, so much more! At Bangor you are also able to gain different qualifications that you can take with you once you leave Sea Cadets!

"It makes me feel I can do things others can't. I don't want to stay in my house every day. I want to see how the world is."
Shaun, 13
It is our priority to make sure that Sea Cadets is a safe environment young people can go to, to be themselves. Click here to find out more about how we safeguard our young people.
At Bangor Sea Cadets, our boating activities are rowing, paddle sports, sailing and powerboating.
We have a fleet of 3 "Trinity" class rowing boats which are pulled by 4 Cadets at a time, and one "Yole" slide seat rowing boat which can be rowed as a single or double skull. These boats are kept in Bangor Marina during boating months, and on our parade nights we are often seen out in Bangor Bay enjoying the summer evenings.
For our sailing activities, we have a fleet of 3 "RS Quests". Sailing activities are based at Ballyholme Yacht Club who kindly host Bangor Sea Cadets and allow us to make use of their facilities.
Paddle sports are undertaken both at Ballyholme and Bangor Harbour using small fleet of SUPs (stand-up paddlebaords), and kayaks.
Bangor Sea Cadets operate 2 power boats, which are used both as safety boats for our rowing, sailing and paddling activities, as well as for teaching Cadets how to handle powered craft. We occasionally also have use of the District rhib.
All of our waterborne activities are supervised by qualified volunteer staff, who hold qualifications issued by national awarding bodies for the activities being undertaken. We have an excellent track record of safe boating in Bangor, spanning many decades .
Bangor Sea Cadets regularly participate in District events (Northern Ireland wide), and National Events including the National Drill Competition and National Combined Regatta where we can claim to have had great success over the years.
