Norwich Sea Cadets Attend Wells-next-the-sea Trafalgar Day Parade 2022

Trafalgar Day Parade 2022

Sea Cadets from Norwich took part in a spectacular show of formal parading from The Buttlands to St Nicholas Church in Wells, to mark Trafalgar Day.

Sea Cadets from across the Suffolk and Norfolk District took part in the event on 23/10/2022 at 12:30, with the parade accompanied by a marching band. Suffolk and Norfolk cadets lead the parade escorting the colour which was carried by Norwich’s commanding officer.

Trafalgar Day is a chance to showcase skills and talents to dignitaries from the Royal Navy and to London’s spectators and tourists. For more than 100 years, Sea Cadets has marked the anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar with a parade on the Sunday closest to 21 October. On that date in 1805, Admiral Lord Nelson defeated the French and Spanish fleets of Cape Trafalgar in South West Spain, losing his life at the height of his most famous victory.

Norwich Sea Cadets’ Officer in Charge, Sub Lieutenant (SCC) Jack Palmer RNR, said: “We only had a day to practise and coordinate moves with the other Suffolk and Norfolk cadets for the very exacting and precise ceremonial display they perform in front spectators. So it’s a big reflection of the hard work, dedication and passion these young people have invested throughout the year that they can deliver such a show-stopping parade. We are really proud of them.”
