Sea Cadets is an official partner for NCS programmes helping to inspire pride in communities, build awareness and be an unstoppable force for helping yourself and those around you.
Far more than just a qualification, NCS (National Citizen Service) is a social action project that gives young people the chance to boost their CVs, learn valuable skills, help communities, and have fun.
Through teambuilding and commitment NCS offers life-changing adventures and thrilling challenges to young people aged 15 to 17. It also complements our existing 'Sea Cadet Experience', which embodies adventure, challenge and personal development.
So far 93,000 young people from across the UK have taken part.
“The project was great as it gave us the opportunity to try some amazing activities such as tree surfing and coasteering. You also really felt part of a team, and I made many great friendships and connections.”
Able Cadet Jamie, Cheltenham Unit
The project is split into three “phases” – a no-holds-barred residential experience; a personal development course; and a social action project. Our cadets got really stuck in, making a real difference in their communities by working with homeless shelters, buying Christmas gifts for those who are less fortunate, and running open days to raise money for local groups.
“I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend NCS to cadets or their parents. They’ll come back from the course worldly-wise, more aware of community issues, resilient, confident and independent. And the sooner young people learn the life skills they need to thrive, the better.”
Clare Towns, Northern Area lead volunteer
