In the Morning on the 10th November 2019 Hove and Adur Unit paraded at the North and South Hove cemeteries to pay the respects warranted for the selfless acts of courage our Sailors, Soliders and Airman showed in times of uncertaintythen and now

We then Paraded at Hove's War Memorial in the afternoon to give another dedication to the lives lost in our wars.

They Shall not grow old as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor years condem.  At the going down of the sun and in the morning.  We will remember them.

New Commanding Officer

New Commanding Officer

Hello to all.

I am Chief Petty Officer Picknell and I have been selected to be Hove and Adurs Commanding Officer.

For those who do not know me a little background.

I started in Sea Cadets at Newhaven Unit in 1985. I reached the top cadet rank of Petty Officer Cadet, I also achieved my Master Coxswains badge.

I transfered to Hove Unit in 1990 and became a PPO at the age of 18.  I took 2 years away from cadets and married Michelle.  We have 4 children and 1 grandchild and two on the way.

In 2000 I transfered to Worthing unit and after many years of being a boats officer and training officer I achieved the status of First Lieutenant.  I also maintained the unit and helped with stores, training, boating and became an armoury controller.

In 2000 I also achieved Area Staff Officer Meteorology which I handed over  in 2013.

I have held a district appointment at central district as well.

I come to Hove and Adur Unit to help to promote our training to try to increase our volunteers to assist the teaching and grow the Unit to become a solid foundation for the cadets future careers.

I hope I can count on your support through the good and sometimes not so good days.

Yours

Duncan
