2021 Remembrance.
This was especially important to attend as we missed out last year due to the COVID 19 restrictions, however this year we went out smarter and bolder.
We led the Remembrance parade at Brighton in the morning with Able Cadet Carter carrying the Union Flag with Sgt Mitchell for the Mayor Cllr Alan Robins
We paraded at Portslade with MP Peter Kyle, as well as at Hove North and South Cemeteries
In the Afternoon we paraded at the Hove war Memorial and engaged with the church service at All Saints Church in Hove
All cadets were a credit to the Sea Cadets and the fallen we remembered
Our Chairman, Roger Martin and the Commanding Officer CPO(SCC) Duncan Picknell were invited to open the refurbished COOP in Church road Hove. This is because we are securing a tighter partnership with the COOP and they have seen that as a community we are using the funds passed on by the community to help the Cadets become more employable adults withthe sea cadets core values behind them.
On the 31 October our District held its first competition the Sussex District swimming gala. This was the first event for 20 months and as a Unit working well together we came back with a lot of swimming certificates. we are now heading to the Southern Area swimming Gala at HMS Temeraire
Pictured is the Unit at the endo of the Gala with the certificates the won.
Today (20th July 2021) at 19:00 our very own Chaplin(SCC) Jim Horton RNR was licensed as Vicar of Saltdean by the Archdeacon of Brighton & Hove. You may think he was already Vicar but he was not, he was Priest in Charge! It’s an odd ecclesiastical distinction but it’s good to be made Vicar.
It was great to have Sea Cadet Corp representation from our Unit.
As Chaplin(SCC) Jim Horton RNR has done a great amount of work for our unit, district and area it was one of our duties and corps values to support him in this recognition.
Chief Petty Officer(SCC) Duncan Picknell
