Beccles Town Council Award for Long Service to...

Our Unit President, Mr Alf Muffett, also received recognition in December for his service to the local community.  Not only is Alf our President and an ex Chief Petty Officer of the unit, but he is also the Standard Bearer for the Royal British Legion, a member of the local Royal Naval Association and Curator of the Royal Naval Patrol Service Museum in Lowestoft.

If you are ever in Beccles on Remembrance Day he will be found leading our parade, proudly carrying the Union Flag.

Another fantastic achievement which we are all very proud of...

2016 Sun Military Award for Inspiring Others

Our Commanding Officer travelled to London in December, as he had been nominated for a new award.  The Sun Military Awards honours the military for their service to our country and among these awards for 2016 a new category for Inspiring Others was created.  People were encouraged to nominate both members of the armed forces and of the cadet forces and Lt Cdr (SCC) Joe Meadows RNR was delighted to be in the top 3 nominations for this award.

He travelled to London, with his wife and on Wednesday 13 December they visited 10 Downing Street for a morning reception and then in the evening were fortunate enough to attend the gala dinner at The Guildhall, in London.

We are delighted to say that he won his category!

Congratulations Sir, on a well deserved award.

GONE TO JOIN THE ROYAL NAVY

Petty Officer Cadet Emily Buchanan joined the Royal Navy in the Writers Branch, early in 2015.

We wish her good luck in her future career.

FAREWELLS

The unit said sad farewells to 2 of our senior lads in 2015 - but for very happy reasons.

Leading Cadet Owen Aldous-Ball left us for a career in the British Army and Petty Officer Cadet Jack Thompson to join the Merchant Navy as a Deck Officer Cadet.

Good luck to them both - the unit is very proud of them!
