Offshore Photography and Media Competition

The Square Rigger Club Charity have announced their first-ever photography and media competition for our cadets!

Following the theme 'Beyond Boundaries', we're looking for captivating photos or other forms of media that capture the essence of life aboard Sea Cadets offshore vessels. Whether it's showcasing diverse individuals breaking barriers, achieving new milestones or highlighting inclusive dynamics.

There are some great prizes up for grabs:

- The President's Prize: £100 voucher for the winning digital photo

- The McBeath Memorial Award: £100 voucher to the winner & a £400 cash prize for the unit with the best media form!

The competition is now live with the deadline on 31 December 2024 and winners announced in Spring 2025.

Don't miss this chance to showcase your talent and creativity while celebrating the spirit of adventure and inclusivity aboard our vessels. The terms of reference are here and you can find the submission form here.

Twickenham Unit excelled, clinching the prestigious Canada Trophy. Milton Keynes Unit secured the runner-up position with the Thomas Gray Memorial Trophy. Scarborough Unit stood out, earning the Captain’s Cup for making a particular impression on Captain Sea Cadets. Congratulations to all winners for their outstanding accomplishments! Their commitment sets a shining example for others to follow. BZ!

Cadet Small Bore Interservice Final

Cadet Small Bore Interservice Final

Last Saturday, two teams from our North West Area took aim and represented the Corps in the Cadet Forces Interservice Small Bore Finals, also known as the Punch & Shell!

In the Punch round, teams of four cadets took aim at two 10-spot targets, competing for the highest team score. Sea Cadets came out on top, clinching the overall victory after almost three decades since Cambridge Unit won in 1996!

In the Shell showdown, three cadets from each service targeted a board adorned with chalk spots. It was a race against time as the first team to hit all spots emerged victorious! Sea Cadets secured 2nd place overall, proudly bringing home silver medals!

BZ to our steady-handed cadets for showcasing their marksmanship and teamwork. Cadets are taught rifle handling skills and undertake range target shooting as part of a structured programme of supervised training that emphasises safe and responsible use.
