22nd July 2012 - Mrs Muriel Huxley MBE
It is with great sadness that we record the death of our Chairman - Mrs Muriel Huxley. Muriel first became involved with the Sea Cadets with Chelsea Unit in 1968. Was a strong supporter of the merger of Chelsea Unit with Putney Unit to form 'her' Unit. She also worked hard with the forming of a new unit at Chiswick to give those who lived just outside our catchment area an opportunity to become Sea Cadets.
She worked tirelessly with fund raising and building relationships with those organisations that could and were willing to support what she called 'her Cadets'. And there was none prouder when they appeared in public in full naval uniform, be it at a national event, such as the annual Trafalgar Day parade, supporting the Dunkirk Little Ships on their annual trip up river or at our local RBL Remembrance Sunday parade. For her work with Sea Cadets she was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire. The youth of Wandsworth, Chelsea and Fulham will be a poorer place without her.
Her funeral will take pace at Putney Vale on Tuesday 26 June at 1440. No flowers has been requested. Donations should be made to her favourite charity - her Unit - Wandsworth, Chelsea and Fulham Sea Cadets.
