TS Torbay has been selected as one of the 43 countywide finalists in the Cash for Communities awards for Devon.

Run in conjunction with Western Power and the local Weekly newspapers throughout the county, the winner will be given an award of £2000 to spend on projects for their group. 2nd and 3rd runner up prizes of £1200 and £800 are also on offer.

Over the next four weeks, (including last week’s edition), tokens will appear in the weekly local papers. All we are asking for please, is that the tokens are cut out and sent on to us, and we will do the rest. At the closing date the tokens will be counted and the group with the most tokens wins the money!!!

If you can ask anyone you know to collect for us as well that would be great!

To avoid large costs on postage may we suggest that the tokens are sent to the unit and sent in bulk after 15th March edition.

Thank you in anticipation.

RNP Success

RNP Success

Last week saw a hive of activity as the unit prepared for our Royal Navy Parade on Thursday 16 March. The RNP is an inspection for sea (and marine) Cadet units, normally carried out by a Royal Navy officer.

We still await our score which will see the unit gain a Pennant or a Burgee. The higher scores attain a burgee, so fingers crossed.

The cadets had to demonstrate some of the activities in which they participate, and they did a fantastic job in doing so. They had to run the entire evening from Colours, all the way through the evolutions, and then the Juniors completed with evening colours. The staff are really very proud of the Cadets for stepping up to the mark so well, especially with an audience that included the Mayor of Torbay - Gordon Oliver, Councillor Roger Stringer and Mrs Shelagh Stringer, Unit President Mr Robert Horne, Major Ron Goodwin OBE and Mr Kevin Jeffries from Paignton Branch Royal British Legion, the District Officer Lt Cdr Hall and Deputy District Officer Lt Cdr Brown and the Deputy Area Officer - Commander Smith.

We would like to say "Bravo Zulu" to the Cadets and staff!

Also a big thank you to the VIP's and parents for attending and joining in for the evening.

Torbay SCC gain second place in Devon district Drill Competition

Torbay SCC gain second place in Devon district Drill Competition

Torbay SCC gained second place in both Colour party and Piping in the Devon district Drill Competition, held at HMS Raleigh on the 20th January. This is a magnificent achievement brought about by weeks of hard work from staff and cadets in the run up to the competition.

Special thanks go to the Riviera Centre, Torquay, for helping us at short notice, with a practice area over the Christmas break in preparation for the competition. This gave us valuable time to practice, helping us to gain the position.

Next year we will be bringing home the trophies!
