We are a very active community based Unit who operate in partnership with local schools, statutory authorities and businesses. We maintain a high profile “bluejacket” presence by organising and managing a number of projects in conjunction with our partners.

In conjunction with Teignmouth Community School we manage and maintain a community memorial project which remembers famous individuals from the wider Teignmouth area. As part of the project the Unit built a “naval flag-deck” which has numerous memorials with information plaques that assist in local history lessons.

With Teignmouth Harbour Commission, local community officers from Devon & Cornwall Police and other community groups the Unit operates a voluntary harbour and estuary community safety patrol. This project allows Cadets to undertake extra boating activities, training & maritime education. By providing three (3) RYA fully equipped power boats with advanced RYA trained adult crews, we support a large number of community events and our Cadets learn self responsibility and practical citizenship.

This is just a few examples of a large number of community projects and affiliations, such at marine engineering, local tall ship sailing, and boat refurbishment and repair; this gives our Cadets the opportunity to undertake a wide range of training and educational opportunities at a local level that supplements the training provided by the Sea cadet syllabus.
