On the 19th of May the Liverpool District Officer, Lt Cdr (SCC) Paul Rycroft RNR, attended Sefton Unit for our Annual Unit Inspection. The Sea Cadet Corps inspect every unit to assess various aspects including Health and Safety, Staff Qualifications, how well the Cadets are being taught, the subjects offered, the equipment and buildings we use to teach to name but a few.

After a vigorous inspection a report was sent from the Inspecting Officer to our Area Officer, Lt Col J R DAVIES MCGI RM, for his Approval, comments and recommendations which was then forwarded to the “Captain of the Sea Cadets Corps, Captain Mark Windsor, RN

Units are graded from needing improvement, to exceeding the levels expected, the very good Units receive a “Pennant” award whilst the units judged to be among the best are awarded a “Burgee”.

I am pleased to announce that TS Starling, Sefton Sea Cadets, have been awarded a “Burgee” grading which is a fantastic achievement for everyone involved in the running of our Unit.

I would like to congratulate the Staff, Committee Members and especially all of our Cadets for all their hard work over the last 12 months in making TS Starling one of the best units in the United Kingdom
