As an independent charity, but part of the national Sea Cadets, your support is vital to us.

We rely on the goodwill of our local community and businesses for financial support.

Sea Cadets welcome donations, large or small which can help provide opportunities for our cadets. Your donation can go straight to our Unit or via our branch teams which support lots of Units in a particular region or area. Or you can become a member of the national charity from just £25 a year.

A donation can:

  • - £20 will pay for a life jacket
  • - £50 can help pay for the heating of a unit
  • - £100 will pay for a new set of oars for a pulling boat
  • - £250 will send a Sea Cadet on a week's trip on flagship TS Royalist
  • - £1000 will help make vital health and safety upgrades for a Unit
  • - £2500 will buy a new boat for a unit - which will have a useful life of at least 25 years, serving hundreds and hundreds of cadets.

Fundraising for the cadets to directly benefit them covering the costs of the day-to-day running of the unit and boating station is of high priority, the average funds required over the year average out at £1000 per month (approx).  Without fundraisers (usually made up of parents, family, friends, staff and general public donations) the money would not be raised consequently, there would be no possibility to continue providing a first class service to our current cadets and the future ones too.  Plus we are aiming high to create a sustainable future through creating a parade ground and residential parking area on Tuthill, with the revenue created through this project will create more opportunities to modernise the facilities on offer.

Fundraisers are as valuable to our unit as the cadets and staff themselves.  All need each other to thrive, succeed and progress, that is why we value every supporter no matter how big or small the contributions.  Due to the training programme of the cadets and staff it is not always possible to include them in the fundraising plans, anyone can fundraise for us and we have various means of making your pleadges to us: Post us a cheque and cover letter to let us know how you raised the money (cheques made payable to 'Scarborough Sea Cadets', online via Just Giving and Ebay for Charities.

Parents and Friends supporters are called 'P&F' and a formal group has not been chaired for a number of years, this is mainly due to the commitment requirements that are off putting for a lot of people.  But we would like to emphasis that with your combined support the young people will benefit directly from improved facilities and more opportunities to increase their skills through your efforts.

  • Our Secondhand Charity Bookshop in the Bolts
  • Dragon Boat Race
  • Seasonal Fairs (Xmas, Easter etc.)

We are willing to try new ideas such as joint fundraising ventures.

Building & Residential Car Park Project, building a sustainable future:

Our plans to create a pleasant, useful environment at Tuthill is an ongoing project that has been granted all planning permissions and our project plans been approved. 

All that is needed now to put the plans into place are the funds.
