Plymouth Drake Sea Cadets are based in Building SO4OA, South Yard of HMNB Devonport, Plymouth. Plymouth Drake share their building with HMS VIVID (RNR).
The Sea Cadets is a nationwide voluntary youth organisation, open to young people aged 12 to 18 and with Junior Sections open to those of 10 to 12 years of age, run by enthusiastic adult volunteers It provides fun, friendship and adventure.
The Cadets start out by looking at the history of the Royal Navy and the history of the Sea Cadets. Followed by a basic overview of
- Parade Training
- Fire Prevention
- Health and Safety
- Who's who in the Sea Cadets
- Seamanship
- First Aid
There are also a lot of other subjects which Cadets can learn and gain Nationally Recognised Qualifications such as:
- Seamanship
- Cooks Steward
- First Aid
- Marine Engineering
- Communications
- Many boating qualifications, inlcuding
Sailing, Kayaking, Power Boating and Rowing
There are also many offshore vessels which Cadets can gain a place onboard for a week of intense boating. The main offshore vessels which the Sea Cadets have are:
T.S Royalist, T.S Jack Petchy and T.s John Jerwood.
