I am writing to invite you and your family to our open evening on the evening of Tuesday 7 February 2012. This visit by is due to the fact that the year of 2011 has been once again very successful for Northampton and Wellingborough Sea Cadet Units, the result of this being that we been awarded the Captains Cup for outstanding performance.
This is a remarkable achievement for an inland unit and Northampton is the only unit to achieve an outstanding result twice in recent years. This award reflects great credit on the achievements of your Cadets, Staff and Supporters.
The Captain of the Sea Cadets, Captain Mark Windsor Royal Navy will join us on this evening to inspect the cadets personally and witness both the Royal Marine and Sea Cadet Training. During the evening the cadets will demonstrate their skills and training by way of organised training displays and ceremonial routines.
The inspection evening is the final stage of the bi-annual efficiency inspection by the Royal Navy and this audit is important to unit as it affects the training activities we are authorised to train our young people in.
Due to the importance of the inspection evening on 7 February it is vital that all cadets are on board by 6.30pm to enable them to prepare for the arrival of the Captain and other guests. The evening is a compulsory attendance for all cadets of the unit.
Please be advised that cameras and video cameras are most welcome as long as they do not interfere with the ceremonial routines. As you can imagine space on the evening will be fairly limited therefore only a few chairs will be available. Please advise staff upon arrival if a chair is needed for disabled, elderly or infirm guests.
This is an excellent opportunity to see your cadets in action and at their best and we hope that you will be able to attend this event.
